I don't know how many times I painted her hand. It was a real challenge. I could see that something was wrong, but I had trouble fixing it. I'm sure I could work for hours on finishing touches, but I think it's time to move on to the next one.

"Blue cup"
I have few old canvases which have been painted over couple times. I don't know how many times I can do that, so I use them for practice. I noticed when I posted this that the plate has a funny shape and I should of work little more on the cup. Oh well, it was a good exercise, and there is always next one.

Waiting for a train (8"x8")
It is so hard to find people wearing bright colors in the winter. Almost every one wears black or gray. So when I saw this girl with an orange scarf and blue jacket and standing on the yellow line, I thought it would make a nice picture.
Most of the time, when I post my pictures, the colors don't turn out exactly the way they look in the painting. I'm using an SLR camera and I've tried shooting it outside and inside the house, but somehow it never looks quite right. What is the best way to do that? Any suggestions on how I could fix this? It is very frustrating.

Karin Jurick
This is my version of Karin Jurick for the "Thank you project" organized by Jill Polsby. Because of my inexperience blogging, I lost my posting and my chance to participate in the original project. I'm very grateful to Karen for putting her time in to the "Portrait exchange" and I would like to add myself to the group of 119 artists who painted her portrait.

Somehow I managed to delete my last post, so I guess I will do it again. This is my entry for the end of the year portrait swap. I didn't know who the person was. It was exiting to participate but because I am new to portraits (my second) it was challenging. I also lost all the great comments and words of encouragement from another artists when I deleted the post and that is what I'm really sad about. You can view all the portraits on you tube too, just click part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4.
